Background and Objectives: Regular blood transfusions in patients with hereditary hemolytic anemia, especially thalassemia, it is the survival of most of them but also the possibility of area viruses like hepatitis from blood transfusion is increase. In order to identify these diseases and other complications in people with thalassemia, this study aimed to Investigate laboratory, demographic and clinical findings in patients with thalassemia in the dezful in 2015 was performed.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study collected information by referring to the medical records in dezful thalassemia Clinic was performed. The information includes gender, age, location, ethnicity, blood type, receive blood type, time between blood transfusions, medications, vaccinations carried out, underlying disease, performed surgery and the time they had.

Result: Records of 174 thalassemic patients with mean age of 23.60 years were enrolled. Of these, 23 patients (13.2%) were thalassemia intermedia type and 151 (86.8%) were the major type. Recent average serum ferritin was 2760.60. Independent T tests showed that between the type and age of diagnosis of thalassemia, there was a statistically significant relationship (p=0.000).

There were statistically significant positive correlation between age and the time between blood transfusion so that the time between the blood transfusion was also increased with age (p=0.004) (r=0.21).

Conclusion: Because of the low statistics diagnosed with thalassemia diseases, especially heart disease, a closer examination is necessary.
